One of the lovely things about winter here on Pomeroy Reserve is being able to see the birds more easily now that the vegetation has fallen back. In the last few weeks we have had sightings of species that we might only normally get quick glimpses of and sometimes never for long enough to confirm. It was wonderful the other morning to watch an African Dusky Flycatcher struggling with a grub it had just found amongst the dead leaves and the sighting of a pair of Black Collared Barbets enjoying the morning sunshine was a very cheerful sight. We also got a chance to photograph a Black Crowned Tchagra, as it bobbed about in the shrub. Now really is a good time for bird watching on Pomeroy!
