The night camera that we use here on Pomeroy Reserve has not been picking up many
unusual sightings recently. The camera is moved every few days so as to be able to cover a
variety of locations. The other night the camera picked up some wonderful pictures of the
Aardwolf. This is the first time we have got photos of it in this area of the farm. We never
cease to be amazed at the bold, fearlessness of the animal. At only 50cm in height (to the
shoulder) and weighing less than 13 kgs it nevertheless looks willing to tackle anything
unusual that it comes across during its nocturnal activities. Its diet is mainly termites and
other insects but it is not a meat or carrion eater and seldom uses its dangerous canine
teeth.
