It’s been a couple of very busy weeks here at Pomeroy Lodges. We are delighted to be able to
announce that we have been given Birder Friendly Establishment accreditation by Bird Life SA. A
fabulous view of a pair of African Crowned Eagles firstly, flying overhead then perched in a large gum
tree near our main residence. Then this morning a first for Pomeroy – an African Spoonbill happily
walking about on one of the dam walls. Our bird list continues to grow – now up to 143 species just
on Pomeroy.
A quieter spell has given us the opportunity to do maintenance work on and around the lodges. We
are making progress with the access roads and managing to provide flat parking areas next to the
lodges. The dry weather has helped whilst the work was being carried out and we are now looking
forward to a couple of wet days forecasted for the end of the week. This will help the surface of
these new areas to bed down. Rain might also help with starting to top up our dams. Every day as
the drought continues we are grateful for our boreholes.
